 THE MINUTES OF THE BUSINESS MEETING OF FLEETWOOD AND CLEVELEYS LIONS CLUB. HELD at the ELIZABETH NORTH EUSTON HOTEL, THE ESPLANADE FLEETWOOD ON WEDNESDAY 28^th OCTOBER 2009 THE MEETING WAS CHAIRED BY CLUBS PRESIDENT  FRED RILEY

THE MEETING

                  The meeting was opened at 7.30 by President Fred with a warm welcome to all members and guests.

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING.

                The date of the Lytham Presidents Night was not the date shown on the minutes.               

PRESIDENTS REPORT

1.     The District news letter has been received and is available for members to read.

2.     I visited Vera and Brian Milner with flowers, from the Club. They thanked us for our kindness and Brian hopes to be back with us shortly. Brian is now with us, welcome back.

3.     Linda and myself attended the Royal Marine Band Concert which was organised by Fleetwood Rotary Club, for Life Boat funds. It was a great evening.

4.     Myself and Linda with Zone Chairman Kelvin and Louise attended the Lytham Lions Club Presidents Evening , it was a good meal and good company. Eight of their members will be attending our Charter Night.

5.     I attended both the Tombola Stall and Charity Shop in Poulton, they both had good local support, I need to stop buying items for myself.

6.     I have received a price list of items of equipment required by the Lifeboat, I will pass it on to the Welfare Committee.

7.     A request has been received from the Museum Trust for help in financing the installation of a stained glass window at the Fleetwood  Museum. Lion John Cook proposed £200, this was seconded by Lion Jenny.

8.     The Club has received a LCIF Melvin Jones Fellowship patch and chevron. Well done to all members, past and present.

            The following are Borough of Wyre events for 2009.

             Saturday 31^st October Coffee Morning   £2.50

             Thursday 12^th November Casino Night and Buffet   £10.00

             Wednesday 25^th November  Indian meal     £15.00

             Saturday 12^th December     Christmas Fayre   £2.50

             Any one wishing to attend any of the above, should contact Lion President Fred.

             There will be a Directors meeting at 7.00pm on Wednesday 25^th November.

ENTERTAINMENT 

           There will be no November social this year.

ACTIVITIES

 Lion Carole thanked all who helped in the Charity Shop

           The Christmas Tombola will be on either, 12^th or 19^th December, the exact date will be advised later.

           It was proposed that the takings of the Charity Shop be donated to Women's Refuge, Lion Margaret proposed £300, this was seconded by Lion Jenny and passed by the meeting.

           The flowers at Charter night are to be presented by Lions Jenny, Sonja,John and Les.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

         Five cases were reviewed. Three were not within our province, two more are still under investigation.

TALKING NEWSPAPER

                  The next meeting will be on Monday30th November at Blackpool Wyre and Fylde Society for the Blind, Bosworth Place Blackpool South Shore. An appeal was made for more readers, two Lions volunteered and were gratefully acknowledged..

YOUTH REPORT

                  Nothing to report.

PUBLIC RELATIONS 

            The local newspaper reported on three events.

                Sylvia is visiting again and says that she will be joining us, she will be most welcome.

           Thanks were given to Lion Donald for his production of the Club Directory.

  Kelvin:-   A DVD is available regarding Lionism, it is can be obtained from President Fred.

   Could any questionnaires still outstanding, be handed in at the next business meeting.

Stuart:- Lion David Brocklehurst is trying to clear his garage and would like to pass on club items    to some one with space to store it. Lion Denis will collect from David.

                          The wine was won by Lion John Cook.
