PRESIDENTS REPORT
Welcome fellow Lions , partners and guests, it is very nice to see you all here this evening.
I had a call from Neil about the Life Boat Walk, this coming Friday, we did expect someone from the Life Boat to come to our last meeting and explain what was expected of us but no one turned up. The wanted ten people to act as marshals, I contacted a few Lions but found non to be available on that evening, so I rang them and said that we were sorry that we couldn't help.
Next Saturday, we have a Tombola stall at Poulton Teanlow Centre, we need some help over the lunch period.
We also need help on Fleetwood Tram Sunday 19th July.
I would like to thank Mike and Evelyn for organising this evening, it has been very enjoyable and also thank you to the staff of the North Euston Hotel for a lovely meal.
Well, this is the end of another Lions year. I would like to thank all you hard working Lions for making it a successful financial year.
I would like to thank Stuart for making the Swimarathon such a financial success,he put a lot of hard work in to it, most of it behind the scenes. Thank you.
This year we have had the Charity Shop in Poulton for three weeks, it was very successful, I would like to thank all those who helped with this.
This year, we held the Tombola stall four times in Poulton, which Lion Denis organised and Lion Nada provided the prizes. I would like to say a big thank you to both of them.
We had a membership drive this year, which was organised by Lion Stuart and his team, thank you to them. It was very successful, we had 29 people who attended the Drinks and Nibbles night and some are still showing interest, we will see what happens.
This is the time to say Thank you to Secretary Lion Margaret who has been a great help and a pleasure to work with.
Thank you to Treasurer Lion Les for all his hard work and help over the year.
Thank you to Lion Tony, my Zone Secretary, who's been a great help to me.
Last but by no means least, Thank you to Peter, for all his help and support over the year and for attending functions with me.
CHANGE OVER
Lion Carole then handed over the Presidents Chain to Lion Fred who spoke of his hopes of support and success for the coming year.
Lion Carole handed over the Zone Chairman to Lion Kelvin, who spoke of his plans for the future year.
SECRETARYS REPORT
I have enjoyed my year as secretary of this Club and above all it has made me realise that it's about time I moved into the 21st Century and bought myself a laptop.
Between us, Donald and I have carried out the work, I on my trusty old typewriter and Donald on his very latest equipment. Donald, many many thanks for all you help during the year with the monthly returns and incoming e mails etc. I couldn't have done it without your input, we've worked very well together.
I have also enjoyed attending the Zone meetings with Zone Chairman Carole. Seeing all the Zone reports from all the Clubs, makes me realise (if I didn't know it already) just what a lot of projects we get through during the course of the year and what a variety of fund raising is done and what large sums of money we raise for good causes. This Zone is alive and well and has pride in the community.
I now pass over to Lion Denis who is familiar with the job, having been Secretary at Poulton Club.
I have received a letter from John and Margaret Wilde, he's finished his degree and hopes to be President of his Club in 2011.
The July Social will be a visit to the Countryside Museum at Farmer Parrs, followed by a supper, Wednesday 15th July 7 – 8pmapprox the price is £12.
